In spring time, Prince of Wales Drive through the Central Experimental Farm is transformed by crabapple trees in blossom. The ‘rosybloom’ Lake series of crabapples was developed at the CEF by Isabella Preston. Some of these rosyblooms, planted as early as 1928, can still be found in the Arboretum and Ornamental Gardens

There are about 350 individual crabapple trees in the Farm’s collection from 12 distinct species and over 100 different varieties. Beautiful spring displays can be seen around the Arboretum.
