Insects at the Central Experimental Farm
WHEN: Sunday, June 16, 9:30 a.m. Please note: Registration is for one individual only. Each attendee must be registered separately. The tour will take place RAIN OR SHINE.
WHERE: Special note: This tour is starting from a different location! Please note that it will begin at the Parking Lot for Fletcher Wildlife Garden. Due to parking limitations, it might be advisable to park across Prince of Wales Drive in the museum parking lot (payment required) and then cross over to Fletcher Wildlife Garden to join the tour.
WHAT: From Fletcher Wildlife Garden, the group will be heading down the slope to the wetland area. The tour leader will use a net to sweep some vegetation to sample the insect population. Then the tour participants will examine trees for any insects (e.g., caterpillars, leaf miners, galls) and talk about what they find. The tour leader will also bring some books on insects that may be of interest to participants.
Tour leader: Henri Goulet, Honorary Research Associate, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
