WHEN: Sunday, August 25, 9:45 a.m. Please note: Registration is for one individual only. Each attendee must be registered separately. The tour will take place RAIN OR SHINE.
WHERE: This tour is starting from a different location! Please note that it will be starting at the Parking Lot near the Tropical Greenhouse, which is located on Maple Drive in the Experimental Farm
WHAT: Gymnosperms are the oldest seed-bearing plants, and were once the dominant trees in the world. This tour will take us on a journey through time, starting in the Paleozoic, evolving into trees such as the conifers we know today, and finishing with questions about their future. The tour leader will cover persistent and tantalizing questions in the study of the taxon, such as Darwin’s “abominable mystery” and gymnosperm pollination.
Tour leader: Clayton Shearer
