What’s in my garden? Friend or foe?

We like to think that our garden is immune to the sorts of pests we see in gardening magazines. But is that reality and what should we do when we encounter a pest?

Master Gardener Nancy McDonald: Nancy has been a Master Gardener volunteer with MGOC for 14 years and calls her garden “a happy place.” She enjoys checking out the many garden “bugs” who visit and asking whether they are friend or foe.

Increasing Your Garden’s Benefits While Keeping It Beautiful

You don’t have to start from scratch to have a garden that invites and encourages wildlife. You don’t have to remove favourite plants because they are not native. And you don’t have to stop “grooming” your garden. Here are strategies for letting nature into an existing garden.

Master Gardener Kelly Noel: Kelly has enjoyed the process of gardening for many years: planting, weeding, pruning. She likes to visit all parts of the garden every day. She has been a member of Master Gardeners for 20 years.

Master Gardener Candace Dressler: Candace has been a Master Gardener for seven years. During her 35 years of gardening there are many plants that she wishes she had said thanks, but no thanks to.
