WHERE: Meet at Building 72 in the Arboretum at the Central Experimental Farm, east of the Prince of Wales roundabout.
Tree identification to species is often challenging, requiring careful inspection of multiple dimensions of a tree’s growth form, habitat, twig characteristics, and colours. It can also be a fun problem to solve a tree’s identity, and practically important regarding questions of conservation, edibility, and ornamental or reforestation uses. On this tour we will apply an “identification algorithm” to solve the identify of various trees to family, genus, and, where possible, species, and teach advanced techniques you can use to identify trees quickly and accurately.
Attendance is limited to 20 to enable physical distancing and to avoid fines by complying with government regulations on group size.
