WHEN: Sunday, Aug 14, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Please note: Our registration policy has changed. Registration is for one individual only. Each attendee must be registered separately. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Reminder: Given the challenges of Covid-19, masks are optional but all attendees are asked to try to maintain physical distance with other attendees, except members of the same household, or wear a mask if that is not possible.
WHERE: Meet at Building 72 in the Arboretum at the Central Experimental Farm, east of the Prince of Wales roundabout.
WHAT: Ottawa’s Dominion Arboretum collection contains many trees which are of a “threatened” conservation status (IUCN Red List) and the Arboretum therefore fulfills an important role in providing habitat for threatened species and the opportunity for public education. This tour will highlight some of the threatened (vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered) species at the Dominion Arboretum, and for each tree we will discuss factors which lead to their endangerment and possible solutions to help preserve and restore tree species of precarious conservation statuses.
Attendance is limited to 40 to enable physical distancing.
Tour leader: Owen Clarkin
Although the tours are free and open to the public, you must register in advance to attend. Please note that free parking at the Arboretum and Farm is becoming more limited. Paid parking is available at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Museum, a short walk from the Arboretum.
COST: Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted during the tour.
