Whether you have an acreage, suburban lot or tiny city yard, this talk will give you a solid foundation for your garden design.

Agnieszka and Claire will make the process less intimidating and more fun by helping you visualize what works, what doesn’t and why. They will cover both aesthetic and ecological design basics to include how to combine plants, design for different seasons and sites, and incorporating native plants.

Master Gardener Agnieszka Keough, originally from Warsaw, Poland, is a biologist by training. Her interest in plants and their cultivation, coupled with an appreciation for art, led her to pursue formal horticulture and landscape design courses through Dalhousie and Guelph Universities. Her current work involves designing and improving gardens for clients, aiming to create nature-friendly spaces. Agnieszka has been volunteering with MGOC since 2016 and is a member of the West Carleton Garden and McNamara Field Naturalist Clubs.

Master Gardener Claire McCaughey has had a life-long love of gardening and garden design. After retirement from full-time employment in 2015, she began to formally study horticulture and landscape design through the University of Guelph online programs. She has certificates in Sustainable Urban Horticulture and Landscape Design and is working towards a Landscape Design Diploma. She joined Master Gardeners in 2015 and received her five-year MG pin in 2020. She is also a gardening professional and really enjoys working with people to beautify and design their gardens.
